Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and report concerns to nursing staff promptly
- Document care provided accurately and timely to maintain clear resident records
- Help create a calm, friendly environment for residents during overnight hours
- Collaborate with the care team to implement care plans and improve resident outcomes
Qualifications
- Valid Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Comfortable working overnight hours and providing direct resident care
- Background check and health screenings as required by facility
- Compassionate attitude, good communication skills, and teamwork mindset
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic resident care
- Ability to safely assist with transfers and use patient handling equipment
- Basic infection control and hand hygiene practices
- Accurate documentation and attention to detail
- Strong observation skills to notice changes in resident condition
- Good interpersonal skills for working with residents and families
