Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and the perioperative team during procedures with focus and precision
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field, instruments, and supplies for each case
• Perform instrument and sponge counts to ensure patient safety
• Anticipate surgeon needs and provide instruments and supplies promptly
• Participate in on-call coverage as required to support emergent cases
• Collaborate with nursing and surgical staff to maintain efficient OR flow
• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and staff
• Document perioperative activities accurately and hand off information clearly

Qualifications

• Surgical technologist experience in the Operating Room; prior scrub tech experience preferred
• Ability to take call and respond as needed
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or equivalent OR experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or willing to obtain
• Strong team communication skills and a patient-centered approach
• Comfort working in a 4-room OR and supporting a variety of surgical cases

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in sterile technique and OR aseptic practices
• Instrument identification, handling, and setup
• Accurate counting and tracking of sponges, needles, and instruments
• Familiarity with perioperative workflows and surgical case preparation
• Effective communication with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia team
• Basic familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation
