Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
• Provide compassionate personal care and companionship to support emotional well-being
• Monitor and report changes in residents’ conditions to licensed nursing staff promptly
• Accurately document care, observations, and any incidents in the resident record
• Support mobility and safe transfers, following care plans and safety protocols
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care and a great resident experience

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent
• Active placement on the state Nursing Assistant registry as required by Maryland
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Able to pass required pre-employment screenings (background check, TB test, immunizations)
• Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA or nursing assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident-centered approaches
• Ability to safely assist with transfers, mobility, and use of assistive devices
• Strong observational skills for recognizing changes in resident condition
• Basic documentation skills and comfort using electronic or paper charting systems
• Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and clinical teams
