Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living
- Assist residents with mobility, bathing, grooming, and feeding as needed
- Monitor residents' physical and emotional well-being and promptly report changes
- Accurately document care, observations, and any incidents in resident records
- Support a warm, respectful environment that promotes dignity and independence
- Participate in team care planning and collaborate with nurses and support staff
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Valid authorization to work in Maryland and ability to pass required background checks
- Comfortable working with older adults and able to assist with physical care tasks
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Previous experience in long-term care or similar settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification or state-approved nursing assistant credential
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of elder care principles and dignity-centered approaches
- Familiarity with infection control and safe patient handling techniques
- Ability to take and record basic vital signs accurately
- Basic documentation skills and attention to detail
- Compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
