Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care for mothers and newborns with compassion and confidence
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using electronic fetal monitoring and interpret tracings to support clinical decisions
• Perform newborn assessments and initiate neonatal resuscitation using NRP protocols when needed
• Administer medications, manage IV therapy and follow ACLS/BLS guidelines in emergent situations
• Coordinate care with obstetricians, anesthesiologists and pediatric teams for safe deliveries
• Educate patients and families on labor progression, breastfeeding basics and postpartum care to empower recovery
• Document clinical assessments, interventions and outcomes accurately using facility systems and checklists

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (ability to practice in Illinois preferred)
• Current BLS, ACLS, NRP and C-EFM certifications required
• Experience in Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby care and electronic fetal monitoring
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and every third weekend as scheduled
• Complete required health screenings and immunizations prior to start (see facility checklist)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred when available

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in labor and delivery management and mother/baby nursing
• Proficient with continuous electronic fetal monitoring and C-EFM interpretation
• Strong neonatal assessment and newborn stabilization skills
• Excellent clinical judgment in high acuity and emergent situations
• Clear communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary obstetric and neonatal teams
• Accurate charting and familiarity with clinical checklists and credentialing processes
