Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients across the unit
- Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings clearly
- Administer medications and treatments safely and in accordance with policies
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary team members to create and follow care plans
- Monitor patient status and escalate changes promptly to appropriate providers
- Educate patients and families about care plans, medications and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record
- Support a culture of safety, teamwork and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license (Maine or compact/multistate where applicable) or LPN license if applicable for the role
- BLS/CPR certification required; advanced certifications a plus
- Comfortable working 12+ hour day shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM) with appropriate stamina and focus
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting
- Excellent communication skills with patients, families and care teams
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (LPN diploma or RN: ADN/ASN/BSN as applicable)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid assessment skills and ability to recognize changes in patient condition
- Medication administration and basic IV/IVPB familiarity
- Proficient documentation skills and comfort with electronic health records
- Ability to work collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team
- Time management, organization and strong attention to detail
