Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients during the evening and overnight hours
- Assess patient conditions, monitor vital signs, and document clinical changes accurately
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed in accordance with facility policy
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and update patient care plans
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff to ensure continuity of care
- Respond to patient needs and emergencies calmly and competently during the shift
- Support discharge planning and patient education to promote recovery and well-being
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license — active and in good standing
- Compact or New Mexico state nursing license as required by facility
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (recommended to have on start)
- Clinical experience in acute care or similar setting preferred
- Professional communication skills, reliability, and a team-first attitude
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (LPN diploma or RN diploma/ADN/BSN as applicable)
- State licensure required prior to start
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong assessment and clinical judgment skills for overnight patient care
- Medication administration and documentation proficiency
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and basic charting practices
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively during busy shifts
- Comfort working independently and escalating concerns when needed
