Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect
• Monitor and document vital signs and resident behaviors accurately to support care plans
• Support mobility and transfers safely, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Help create a warm, home-like environment by engaging residents in conversation and meaningful activities
• Communicate changes in resident condition promptly to nursing staff and document per facility policy
• Maintain infection control practices and follow facility protocols to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

• Current State GNA certification (required)
• CPR/BLS certification (preferred or willing to obtain)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations is a plus
• Successful completion of background check and required health screenings/immunizations
• Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work well on a care team

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting with ADLs and personal care for older adults
• Basic clinical skills: taking and recording vital signs, observing skin condition, reporting changes
• Knowledge of infection control and safety practices in a long-term care setting
• Reliable documentation skills and following care plans accurately
• Strong interpersonal skills and patience for working with residents with cognitive or mobility challenges
• Teamwork mindset and willingness to support nurses and other care staff
