Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living—bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting—with dignity and compassion
- Support safe, compassionate feeding and mobility assistance for residents with special needs
- Monitor residents and report changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
- Document care activities, vital observations and resident needs accurately and timely
- Promote a clean, safe and comfortable environment for residents at all times
- Engage residents in friendly conversation and meaningful activities to support emotional well-being
- Follow individualized care plans and collaborate with the care team to achieve positive outcomes
Qualifications
- State-recognized Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Demonstrated comfort working with older adults and a passion for geriatric care
- Ability to follow care plans, document accurately, and communicate effectively with the care team
- Reliable, punctual, and able to pass facility-required background and health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of activities of daily living (ADLs) and safe resident handling
- Basic infection control and hand hygiene practices
- Skill in observing and reporting clinical and behavioral changes
- Comfortable using electronic or paper charting systems
- Strong interpersonal skills—compassionate, patient, and respectful communication
- Team-oriented attitude and ability to follow direction from licensed nursing staff
