Roles & Responsibilities
- Support and assist with electrophysiology procedures including cardiac ablation, mapping, arrhythmia induction, and conduction studies
- Prepare, monitor, and recover patients for device procedures such as pacemaker insertion, AICD insertion/programming, and lead extraction/removal
- Participate in Left Atrial Appendage (LAA) Closure and Watchman procedures with careful patient monitoring
- Perform and interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG and actively manage dysrhythmias alongside the cardiology team
- Administer and monitor antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, and thrombolytics per protocol
- Provide clear, compassionate patient education focused on lifestyle, medication adherence, and device follow-up
- Document thoroughly in Epic to ensure accurate, timely patient records and smooth team communication
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and device clinic workflows to enhance patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of EP lab or outpatient cardiology clinic experience (required)
- Background in cardiology and comfort with high-acuity EP procedures
- Current RN license in Washington state (or compact RN eligibility where applicable)
- Epic charting experience (required)
- BLS certification (preferred) and other relevant certifications as applicable
- Comfort floating between like units as needed within your skillset
Knowledge & Skills
- Electrophysiology procedures: ablation, mapping, arrhythmia induction, conduction studies
- Device knowledge: pacemaker/AICD insertion, programming, lead extraction/removal, device clinic workflows
- Left Atrial Appendage (LAA) Closure and Watchman procedure familiarity
- Rhythm recognition and management of dysrhythmias; obtain and interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG
- Medication management: antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, thrombolytics
- Strong patient education and engagement skills focused on lifestyle modification and medication adherence
- Experience with Epic electronic health records
- Participation in quality improvement and risk factor modification initiatives; familiarity with device clinic operations
- Basic life support (BLS) competency
