Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and organize personnel and resources to meet patient care needs efficiently
• Assure continuous availability of urgent care, emergency, inpatient, and operative services
• Monitor daily operations using electronic systems, direct communication, and unit rounds
• Allocate and redirect resources based on patient acuity, unit needs, and staff skill mix
• Manage the flow of scheduled, direct, and emergency admissions to optimize capacity
• Lead the organizational response during high census events, collaborating with ED, Surgery, Critical Care, Cath Lab, and Nursing leadership
• Provide crisis management, interpret policy and procedure, and ensure timely cross-department communication

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maine or Compact RN licensure
• Minimum 3 years progressive management or leadership experience required; 5 years preferred
• Previous experience as a Charge Nurse, Unit Coordinator, Supervisor, Manager, or Director is preferred
• Comfortable working nights and participating in a call rotation
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, make timely decisions, and coordinate across departments

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care coordination and staff/resource allocation expertise
• Strong communication and collaboration across clinical departments
• Experience with crisis management and policy/procedure interpretation
• Ability to monitor and integrate data from electronic systems into operational decisions
• Focus on patient safety, quality, and satisfaction
• Experience coordinating emergency, inpatient, and operative services
