Roles & Responsibilities

Provide expert perioperative nursing care for open-heart cases in the CVOR, ensuring patient safety and excellent clinical outcomes
Prepare and maintain the sterile field and necessary equipment for cardiac surgeries
Collaborate proactively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to coordinate care
Advocate for patients and families with compassionate communication and thorough education
Respond to and manage intraoperative changes, following established protocols and escalation pathways
Contribute to a positive team culture and support clinical performance improvements

Qualifications

Current RN licensure required
3+ years of Operating Room experience required
Cardiac Open-Heart experience is required
CVOR experience highly valued
BSN preferred; candidates who commit to obtaining BSN within three years of hire will be considered

Education

BSN preferred; commitment to obtain BSN within 3 years accepted for experienced candidates

Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of perioperative and sterile technique specific to cardiac surgery
Proficiency in intraoperative monitoring and instrumentation for open-heart procedures
Excellent teamwork, communication, and situational awareness in high-acuity settings
Ability to function in a fast-paced OR, adapt to schedule changes, and respond on-call
