Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive respiratory care for patients from birth through geriatrics, based on physician orders
• Operate, monitor and maintain CP equipment including ventilators, oxygen devices, Vapotherm and PAP
• Perform arterial, capillary and venous blood draws and run ABG analysis using bedside instruments
• Administer inhaled medications and prescribed gases safely and effectively
• Conduct accurate respiratory assessments and implement appropriate therapies per RT protocols
• Act as a clinical resource — assist with decision-making, patient evaluation and treatment planning
• Ensure physician orders are correct in the EMR and document all care, procedures and critical values
• Perform EKGs on order or request and support other diagnostic needs during night shift

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) — position title indicates RRT required
• Minimum 2+ years of clinical respiratory therapy experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, NRP and PALS certifications
• Demonstrated competence in ventilator management, oxygen therapy and inhaled medication administration
• Proven ability to perform arterial/venous/capillary blood draws and ABG analysis
• Comfortable with EMR documentation and ensuring accurate physician orders

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and mechanical ventilation troubleshooting
• ABG analysis and interpretation
• Oxygen therapy and advanced oxygen delivery modalities (Vapotherm, PAP)
• Inhaled medication administration and respiratory pharmacology basics
• Patient respiratory assessment across the lifespan
• EKG performance and rhythm recognition
• EMR documentation and chart review
• Phlebotomy for arterial, venous and capillary samples
