Roles & Responsibilities

• Collect and accurately document patient information and specimen data in the EMR
• Prepare patients and set up equipment for routine exams, minor procedures, and radiology as competent
• Perform point-of-care testing and follow protocols for specimen labeling and transport
• Administer immunizations and injections as ordered by the provider
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition and assist with patient transport as needed
• Assist providers and clinic nurses during exams and minor office procedures to ensure smooth clinic flow
• Operate clinical equipment such as EKG machines, cardiac monitors, and manual defibrillators when trained
• Provide compassionate patient education and support, helping patients stay current with immunizations and preventive care

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR EMT III required, or current AK Certification or AK Paramedic Certification
• A Nursing Degree from an accredited institution may be accepted in lieu of the certifications above
• Experience in a healthcare or clinic setting preferred
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills
• Ability to learn and competently use EMR systems and other clinic computer applications

Education

• High school diploma or GED (required)
• Nursing degree from an accredited institution (acceptable alternative to listed certifications)

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care fundamentals and specimen collection best practices
• Point of Care Testing (POCT) and immunization administration
• Vital signs measurement, EKG operation, and basic cardiac monitoring
• EMR documentation and accurate patient charting
• Familiarity with clinic procedures, medical terminology, and cross-coverage workflows
• Teamwork, clear communication, and dependable customer service
