Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on clinical support and mentorship to new and experienced nursing staff and students
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate orientation and ongoing education programs
• Support nursing staff with complex patient care, medication administration, and treatment planning
• Serve as a clinical practice resource and mentor to enhance staff clinical skills
• Act as a liaison between bedside staff and leadership to communicate concerns and feedback
• Analyze patient data to identify practice gaps and design interventions to close them
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement evidence-based standards of care
• Facilitate rollout of new clinical practices, protocols, and equipment with staff training
• Perform quality control audits and report concerns related to care accuracy and regulatory standards
• Promote infection control, OSHA compliance, and adherence to accreditation requirements

Qualifications

• Nursing degree required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license for the State of Alaska
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association
• Clinical Competency Assessment (SEARHC) and High Risk Competency (SEARHC)
• Minimum of 5 years of RN experience in acute care settings preferred
• Ability to work varying schedules including weekends and holidays as needed
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills

Education

• Nursing degree required
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Sound knowledge of clinical practice standards and acute care procedures
• Safe medication administration and patient assessment expertise
• Experience managing acutely ill patients and using pertinent medical equipment
• Familiarity with evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives
• Proficiency in electronic health records and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Teaching and coaching skills to deliver effective clinical education
• Strong interpersonal and communication strategies to support staff and families
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and motivate clinical teams
