Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive echocardiogram studies (Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Transesophageal, exercise and pharmacological echocardiography) with accuracy and professional skill
• Conduct other cardiac diagnostic tests as ordered, including EKGs, Holter prep/monitoring/analysis, and cardiac stress testing
• Operate and maintain cardiac diagnostic equipment (echocardiographs, stress systems, electrocardiographs, Holter monitors) to deliver high-quality diagnostic information
• Use hospital information systems for scheduling, processing, and correct charging of studies
• Apply infection control practices, aseptic technique, and equipment disinfection consistently
• Provide preceptorship and clinical guidance to students from contracted colleges and universities
• Deliver age-specific care across the lifespan, including neonatal and pediatric patient populations

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) required
• Successful completion of an echocardiography certification program and/or a minimum of 2 years hands-on echocardiography experience
• Preferred: Cardiovascular Sonography certificate and extensive hospital-based echocardiography experience
• Preferred: Experience with neonatal and pediatric echocardiography

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Completion of an echocardiography certification program (required or equivalent experience)
• Cardiovascular Sonography certificate (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography
• Experience with M-Mode, color-flow Doppler, exercise and pharmacological stress echo
• Proficiency in EKGs, Holter monitoring (prep, monitoring, analysis) and cardiac stress testing
• Competence in using cardiac diagnostic equipment and computer analysis tools
• Familiarity with hospital information systems for scheduling, processing and billing
• Working knowledge of infection control, aseptic techniques, and equipment disinfection
• Ability to provide age-specific patient care across neonatal, pediatric and adult populations
• Experience mentoring students and providing clinical preceptorship
