Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise Plant Operations, Environmental Services, and Grounds teams — oversee about 45 FTEs and set clear performance expectations
- Direct maintenance activities for utility systems to ensure continuous supply of heat, steam, power, gas and medical gases essential for patient care
- Manage preventative maintenance programs and inspect equipment to meet operational and manufacturer standards
- Ensure outside contractors comply with regulatory agencies and hospital policies when working on site
- Serve as a cross-department liaison to assess needs and develop actionable plans that support clinical and facility operations
- Ensure the facility meets all regulatory standards including NFPA, OSHA, EPA and CMS as well as local building and fire codes
- Develop job-specific customer service expectations, training plans, and timely follow-up on employee and customer concerns
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field
- Minimum of 5+ years of personnel management experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of electricity, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, HVAC and general building maintenance
- Familiarity with autoclaving, bio-waste management, life safety codes, construction phasing and environmental services operations
- Ability to systematically apply engineering principles and diagnose/repair malfunctioning equipment or systems
- Candidate must be willing to relocate to a rural area
Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field

- Facility management and plant operations oversight
- Preventative maintenance and building systems upkeep
- HVAC and boiler systems operation and troubleshooting
- Plumbing, electrical systems, electronics and carpentry skills
- Environmental services operations and bio-waste handling
- Life safety codes and regulatory compliance (NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS)
- Construction phasing and contractor compliance
- Personnel management and team leadership
