Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess neuro patients thoroughly using evidence-based tools and deliver individualized care plans
• Perform NIHSS stroke assessments and neuro checks with precision and timeliness
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following ACLS and unit protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate diagnostics, treatment, and discharge planning
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes clearly in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care with compassion
• Participate in specialty competency testing and maintain required clinical skills

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (license verification required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications required or completion prior to start
• Successful completion of facility-specific competency testing and skills checklist
• Current immunizations and required health screenings (e.g., TB/IGRA, MMR, COVID-19, Hep B)
• Trinity 10-panel drug screen and fit test completion as part of onboarding
• Previous neuro or acute care experience preferred

Education

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and active RN license

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of neuro assessment and monitoring
• Proficiency with NIHSS stroke scale and neuro-focused clinical pathways
• Familiarity with emergency and critical care protocols
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for high-stakes environments
• Accurate, timely clinical documentation and charting skills
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond calmly in urgent situations
