Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral catheterizations, ensuring safe and efficient procedure flow
• Prepare patients and procedure rooms, verify documentation and consents, and support RN setup to deliver high-quality care
• Operate X-ray equipment and MacLab system to capture and document angiograms and procedural data accurately
• Ensure radiation safety compliance for patients and staff throughout procedures
• Obtain and confirm hemostasis after procedures and assist with post-procedure monitoring
• Perform procedure room turnover following infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment
• Administer intra-coronary medications per Bayhealth and unit policies when appropriate
• Participate in the four-month onboarding fellowship and ongoing education to grow clinical expertise and pursue specialty certification

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Radiologic Sciences or completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program required
• RCIS required if graduate of Cardiovascular Technology program; ARRT (RT) required if graduate of Radiologic Technologist program (to be obtained within 4 months if not already held)
• ACLS and BLS required (BLS within 90 days if not already obtained)
• Minimum 18 months diagnostic radiology experience OR completion of an accredited program with program director and clinical site preceptor recommendation
• Preferred: 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience performing diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures
• Maintain required certifications and complete annual unit and hospital mandatory training

Education

• Required: Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences or accredited Cardiovascular Technology program
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or Cardiovascular Technology

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac catheterization and peripheral interventional procedures
• Proficient with X-ray equipment and radiation safety practices
• Experience using MacLab for procedure documentation
• Hemostasis techniques and post-procedure patient monitoring
• Infection control and procedure room turnover
• Familiarity with intra-coronary medication administration
• Electrophysiology and interventional lab experience a plus
