Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Infection Prevention and Control program to meet regulatory and evidence-based standards
- Conduct surveillance, collect and analyze infection data, and prepare timely reports including NHSN submissions
- Develop, update, and implement policies and procedures aligned with CDC, TJC, OSHA, CMS, FDA, and APIC guidelines
- Design and deliver infection prevention education and training for staff, patients, families, and community partners
- Chair the IPC committee and provide oversight of the Employee Health program
- Serve as a subject-matter expert, collaborating with public health and regional partners to ensure current practices are adopted
- Supervise staff and manage program performance, including program evaluation and quality improvement efforts
- Travel to remote SEARHC sites to assess, educate, and support local teams
Qualifications
- Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license (Alaska or other U.S. state). Direct hires must have applied for AK license before start; agency staff must have active AK license
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field (nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or similar) required
- Master's degree (MPH, MSN) preferred
- Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC) required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) current within 3 months of hire and maintained biannually
- Minimum 3 years of acute care/infection control experience and/or data collection and performance improvement/risk management experience
- Clinical and Manager competency assessments to be completed within required timelines
Education
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or similar (required)
- Master's degree (MPH or MSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong working knowledge of epidemiology and infectious disease principles
- Experience with surveillance, NHSN reporting, and HAI data analysis
- Proficient in MS Office and database applications; accurate and timely data entry skills
- Familiarity with regulatory agencies and standards: CDC, CMS, OSHA, TJC, FDA, APIC
- Ability to synthesize regulatory requirements into practical policy and staff education
- Project management and performance improvement methodology experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication tailored for diverse audiences
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple sites
