Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform initial triage and full nursing assessments for patients of all ages, prioritizing care and patient flow
• Provide telephone triage and advice, documenting assessments and care plans
• Administer medications (oral, topical, IM, SQ, intradermal, IV push/infusion) and initiate/maintain/discontinue IV therapy
• Operate and monitor specialized equipment and perform necessary clinical procedures
• Document patient assessments, interventions, education, and outcomes accurately in the medical record
• Coordinate referrals and follow up on outstanding referrals to ensure continuity of care
• Serve as a vaccine coordinator or support vaccine coordination duties as needed
• Maintain a clean, safe clinical environment and ensure adequate supplies and equipment safety
• Participate in quality improvement, team development, and departmental initiatives

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and eligible to take the NCLEX
• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date; agency staff must hold an active Alaska license)
• Minimum 2 years of general nursing experience, including at least 1 year in ambulatory or urgent care settings
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
• Clinical Competency (to be completed within 3 months of hire) and High Risk Competency (within 3 months of hire and annually as required)
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift/move up to 50 lbs, and perform physically active duties

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
• High school diploma or equivalent (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and patient assessment skills across the lifespan
• IV therapy initiation, maintenance, and secondary IV additions (including mixing concentrated solutions)
• Medication administration including IV push and infusion
• Strong documentation and charting skills in EMR systems
• Infection control and safety procedure knowledge
• Excellent communication, multitasking, time management, and problem-solving abilities
• Customer service principles and professional interaction with multidisciplinary teams
