Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and instruments for OB procedures using strict sterile technique
• Anticipate surgical team needs and pass instruments efficiently during cases
• Maintain sterile field integrity and ensure proper instrument counts before, during, and after procedures
• Assist with setup and turnover of OB operating rooms to support smooth case flow
• Communicate clearly with surgeons, anesthesia, and nursing staff to promote patient safety
• Complete required competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical readiness
• Verify and document certifications, fit testing, and required health screenings per facility policy

Qualifications

• BLS certification (required)
• License/certificate verification as listed in the checklist (must be able to provide credentials)
• Demonstrated competency in surgical technology, sterile technique, and OR procedures
• Comfort and experience working in obstetrics (OB) operating room environments preferred
• Willingness to complete Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and skills checklist
• Ability to meet required health screenings (fit test, drug screen, immunizations, TB test, etc.)

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on knowledge of surgical technology and instrument handling in OB cases
• Strong sterile technique and operating room procedural skills
• Proficiency in OR setup, instrument counts, and turnover processes
• Effective communication and teamwork under fast-paced surgical conditions
• Attention to detail for documentation and safety checks
