Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver nursing care for patients across the lifespan in an emergency/acute care setting
• Make independent clinical decisions during your shift and consult leaders for complex situations
• Assess patients, administer medications, and document care accurately in the electronic medical record
• Supervise and delegate tasks to CNAs and techs with accountability for patient safety
• Transcribe physician orders and ensure accurate communication across the care team
• Implement and enforce infection control procedures and facility policies
• Maintain supply and medication levels and report needs to leadership
• Participate in training, staff meetings, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient care

Qualifications

• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska or another U.S. state. Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date; agency staff must have an active Alaska license
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing: BSN, ADN, or Diploma
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS (or willing to obtain within 6 months and maintain biannually)
• SEARHC Clinical Competency and High Risk Competency required within specified timelines
• TNCC preferred and required for ED nurses
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle the physical demands of emergency nursing
• No prior experience required, though acute care, ED, or long-term care experience is preferred

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), or Nursing Diploma from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical decision making
• Experience with medication administration and EMR documentation
• Understanding of infection control and standards of care
• Ability to supervise and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Calm, sound judgment in emergent situations and ability to prioritize care
