Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain a comprehensive risk management program that ensures compliance with Alaska statutes and federal regulations.
• Investigate, evaluate, and report adverse incidents, coordinating follow-up and disclosure with patients, families, and the care team.
• Serve as the Patient Safety Officer to drive organization-wide patient safety initiatives and reduce unintended adverse outcomes.
• Facilitate Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA) and translate findings into meaningful process improvements.
• Provide risk management and patient safety education to staff, management, and physicians; act as a mentor and resource.
• Coordinate chart audits, clinical reviews, and data support to bolster accreditation and quality efforts.
• Collaborate closely with Medical Directors, the CMO, and corporate counsel on peer review and quality-of-care concerns.
• Participate in patient safety rounds and lead cross-functional teams to implement system-based solutions.

Qualifications

• Current full, unrestricted, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska required (agency staff must already hold; direct hire must have applied before start date).
• CPHRM certification required within two (2) years.
• Clinical competency must be completed within 3 months of start and every 3 years thereafter.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience monitoring risk management, patient safety, quality, and regulatory requirements and coordinating process changes.
• Proven leadership in facilitating cross-functional teams and collaborating across disciplines, including physicians and executive leadership.
• Working knowledge of regulatory standards (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF) and applicable federal/state laws.

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska (required).
• CPHRM certification (required within 2 years).

• Regulatory compliance and accreditation support (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF).
• Risk management program development and oversight.
• Patient safety program leadership and safety-round facilitation.
• Incident investigation, reporting, and disclosure practices.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA).
• Chart audits, clinical reviews, and data-driven quality improvement.
