Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, toileting and mobility
- Monitor resident condition and accurately document observations for the care team
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, families, and nursing staff
- Help create a comfortable, home-like environment that promotes dignity
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working with geriatric population and assisting with ADLs
- Clear background check and any state-required screenings
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player with strong communication skills
- Prior experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and respectful elder communication
- Basic skills in taking and recording vital signs and resident observations
- Familiarity with infection control and safe lifting/transfer techniques
- Strong interpersonal skills and empathy when working with residents and families
- Ability to follow care plans and document accurately in resident records
