Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care assisting residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Support safe transfers and ambulation while using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Assist with meals and hydration, ensuring residents receive appropriate nutrition and dignity during mealtime
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly and accurately
- Follow individualized care plans, maintain tidy resident environments, and help create a warm, respectful atmosphere
- Document care provided in a timely and accurate manner according to facility policies
Qualifications
- Active Maryland Nursing Assistant registration or GNA certification, or eligible to obtain
- Previous experience as a GNA/CNA or in long-term care is preferred; new graduates are welcome to apply
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Up-to-date immunizations as required by the facility
- Strong communication skills, patience, and a genuine compassion for older adults
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited GNA/CNA program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common needs of older adults
- Familiarity with infection control practices and standard precaution procedures
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time in a busy care setting
- Competence in safe resident handling, transfers, and use of assistive devices
