Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly communicate concerns to nursing staff
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure hydration needs are met
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and follow facility policies and procedures
- Collaborate with the care team to create a safe, respectful and homelike environment
Qualifications
- Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) or equivalent certification required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Demonstrated comfort and experience working with elderly patients
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work night shift hours (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM) reliably
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and safe patient handling
- Skill in assisting with ADLs while preserving resident dignity
- Ability to observe, document, and report changes in resident status
- Familiarity with infection control practices and facility safety protocols
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
