Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming)
- Assist residents with mobility, transfers and safe positioning to promote comfort and dignity
- Monitor and report changes in condition — be the eyes and ears for the care team
- Document care accurately and timely in resident records to support quality outcomes
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
- Create positive, respectful interactions that support residents’ emotional and social needs
Qualifications
- Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification required or obtained upon hire
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings/immunizations
- Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for working with older adults
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic resident care and ADLs
- Familiarity with infection control and safety practices
- Basic vital signs measurement and observation skills
- Good documentation and time-management skills
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal abilities
- Teamwork and the ability to follow care plans and nurse direction
