Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Shift Type: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (night shift; specific days to be scheduled/varies)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living to promote dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with mobility, transfers, bathing, dressing, and toileting while using safe techniques
- Monitor and record vital signs and routine observations, reporting any changes to the nursing team
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
- Support mealtime needs and document intake as required
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members to support care plans
- Document care accurately and timely in resident charts to ensure continuity and quality
- Participate in team huddles and contribute to a positive, resident-centered culture
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required)
- CPR/BLS certification (preferred or obtain upon hire)
- Demonstrated experience working with older adults or in long-term care is a plus
- Current immunizations and ability to pass facility-required screenings
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-focused approach
- Ability to work night shift hours and follow scheduled assignments
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a state-approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program or equivalent certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care and resident assistance
- Understanding of infection control and safety practices
- Reliable documentation and basic charting skills
- Ability to recognize and report changes in resident condition
- Teamwork and collaboration with nursing and therapy staff
- Time management skills to prioritize resident needs on shift
