Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to residents, including bathing, grooming, and toileting assistance
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) to promote dignity and independence
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to nurses and supervisors promptly
- Document care accurately and timely in resident records
- Help create a warm, respectful environment by engaging residents in conversation and social activities
- Follow infection control, safety, and facility policies to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- Valid Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or state equivalent (preferred)
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Experience working with older adults or in long-term care settings is a plus
- Ability to pass background checks, TB screening, and required health screenings
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively as part of a care team
- Physical ability to perform resident care tasks, including lifting and transfers
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- GNA certification or completion of an approved nursing assistant program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of basic nursing assistant duties and resident-centered care
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and mobility support
- Effective verbal and written communication with residents, families, and staff
- Good observational skills to notice changes in condition or behavior
- Familiarity with infection control practices and safety procedures
- Respectful approach to cultural and individual differences among residents
