Roles & Responsibilities
- Obtain and document accurate vital signs to inform patient care
- Record patient history, current medications, and allergies prior to exams
- Prepare exam rooms and charting materials in EPIC so providers can focus on care
- Set up and assist with dermatology procedures including punch, shave, and ED&C biopsies
- Perform specimen collection and proper labeling to ensure reliable test results
- Assist with sterile procedure tray setup and maintain aseptic technique during procedures
- Remove sutures and provide wound care instructions as directed by providers
- Handle office duties such as pharmacy calls, patient refill requests, authorizations, and scheduling to keep clinic flow smooth
- Room patients and perform telephone triage or follow-up calls when needed
- Float between Bellevue, First Hill, West Seattle, and Issaquah clinics as needed within your skillset
Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) required — MA-R and MA-P applicants will not be considered
- EPIC charting experience required
- At least 6 months of adult outpatient clinic experience preferred; dermatology experience is a plus
- BLS and CMA certifications preferred
- Reliable transportation required for regular travel between clinic locations
- Willingness to float to sister clinics (First Hill, West Seattle, Issaquah) as needed
- Non-local candidates must provide a statement confirming willingness to relocate to the Bellevue area permanently if offered a position at the end of the contract
- First-timers in dermatology accepted — enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are welcomed
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant certification (MA-C) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in EPIC charting and chart preparation
- Strong aseptic technique and sterile tray setup skills
- Experience with specimen collection and accurate labeling
- Skilled in obtaining vital signs and rooming patients
- Comfortable assisting with biopsies, suturing follow-up and suture removal
- Telephone triage, follow-up calls, and clear patient communication
- Office operations: scheduling, authorization forms, insurance verification
- Pharmacy calls and patient refill coordination
- Ordering and stocking supplies to maintain clinic readiness
- Ability to multitask in a busy dermatology outpatient setting
