Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Silver Spring, MD
Shift Type: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (Evening shift; specific days to be confirmed)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, focusing on dignity and respect
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, mobility)
- Monitor and record vital signs and changes in condition accurately and promptly
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment
- Communicate clearly with the nursing team and families to support coordinated care
- Document care activities and observations in resident records with attention to detail
- Participate in team care planning and quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — required
- Completion of an approved GNA training program or equivalent
- Comfortable working with older adults and supporting their daily needs with empathy
- Basic charting/recording skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with nursing staff
- Willingness to complete facility-mandated health screenings and background checks
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Completion of an accredited GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and resident-centered approaches
- Ability to assist with ADLs and safe patient handling techniques
- Familiarity with vital sign measurement and basic clinical observations
- Understanding of infection control and hand hygiene practices
- Good documentation habits and basic charting skills
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with residents and families
