Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to residents, focusing on dignity and respect
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, feeding, mobility)
• Monitor and record vital signs and changes in condition accurately and promptly
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment
• Communicate clearly with the nursing team and families to support coordinated care
• Document care activities and observations in resident records with attention to detail
• Participate in team care planning and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification — required
• Completion of an approved GNA training program or equivalent
• Comfortable working with older adults and supporting their daily needs with empathy
• Basic charting/recording skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with nursing staff
• Willingness to complete facility-mandated health screenings and background checks

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of an accredited GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and resident-centered approaches
• Ability to assist with ADLs and safe patient handling techniques
• Familiarity with vital sign measurement and basic clinical observations
• Understanding of infection control and hand hygiene practices
• Good documentation habits and basic charting skills
• Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with residents and families
