Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care during the assigned shift
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and document care in the medical record
- Monitor patient status, recognize changes, and escalate concerns to the care team promptly
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate safe, effective discharge planning and transitions
- Perform thorough assessments and maintain clear, timely charting to support continuity of care
- Educate patients and families on care plans, medications, and self-care needs
- Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring peers and supporting quality improvement efforts
Qualifications
- Valid LPN or RN license for the state of New Mexico (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications (e.g., ACLS) a plus
- Comfort with 12+ hour night shifts and ability to manage a varied patient acuity
- Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and effective communication skills
- Prior acute care or rehabilitation experience preferred but motivated new grads are welcome to apply
Education
- LPN: Completion of an accredited practical nursing program
- RN: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid medication administration and IV care practices
- Patient assessment and documentation best practices
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Empathy, teamwork, and effective verbal/written communication
