Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting with dignity and respect
- Monitor resident condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff to ensure timely care
- Provide safe, compassionate hands-on care that promotes independence and comfort
- Document care activities and observations accurately and on time
- Support mealtime assistance and feeding when needed to ensure proper nutrition
- Help maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through clear communication and empathy
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living or similar setting preferred
- Ability to pass facility background checks and meet health screening requirements
- Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and mobility support
- Knowledge of infection prevention and basic safety procedures
- Comfortable with charting and simple documentation
- Ability to observe and report changes in resident condition
- Good teamwork, time management and interpersonal skills
