Roles & Responsibilities

• Implement components of patient care and carry out treatment plans under the PT’s guidance
• Help patients stretch and exercise targeted muscle groups to improve function
• Assist with safe patient transfers from wheelchairs or walkers into therapy areas
• Teach balance training and home exercise programs so gains hold up outside the gym
• Read and follow instructions from the Physical Therapist and collaborate to modify care
• Engage families with clear communication to find the best at-home techniques
• Keep the therapy area clean, organized, and ready for meaningful sessions
• Complete administrative tasks like scheduling appointments and filing documentation

Qualifications

• Active PTA license (Missouri state license required; compact allowed)
• Minimum 1 year of PTA experience (required)
• LTC or rehab experience (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Comfort working in a small therapy gym and collaborating within a close-knit team
• Strong communication skills for working with residents, families, and interdisciplinary staff

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care and hands-on therapeutic exercise instruction
• Patient transfers and safe handling techniques
• Balance training and fall-prevention strategies
• Documentation best practices and scheduling/organizational skills
• Experience with psychiatric care, group therapy, and communicating with families
• Ability to instruct and monitor home exercise programs
