Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily living assistance to residents, promoting dignity and independence
- Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting and mobility according to care plans
- Support meal service and feeding assistance while monitoring dietary needs
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
- Document care activities accurately and maintain clear communication with colleagues
- Encourage social engagement and participate in activities that enhance resident quality of life
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
- Current state GNA/CNA registration or licensure as applicable
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a resident-centered approach
- Ability to perform physical tasks required for resident care and safe transfers
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved GNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care best practices and resident rights
- Familiarity with infection control and safe handling procedures
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Ability to follow care plans and communicate observations clearly
- Compassionate bedside manner and patience with older adults
- Teamwork and collaboration with interdisciplinary care staff
