Shift Type: Rotating day/evening/night including weekends: Mix of 8-, 10- and 12-hour shifts totaling 40 hours/week with core coverage 6:30 AM - 11:30 PM; example Day 4x10 schedule Mon-Thu 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM. On-call evenings M-F 9:00 PM - 6:30 AM. Weekend coverage includes 12-hour blocks Sat/Sun 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM - 6:30 AM. (Rotating)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care throughout surgical procedures as a circulating OR nurse
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to ensure patient safety
• Manage intraoperative documentation and maintain accurate patient records in EPIC
• Support complex cases including trauma, neurosurgery, orthopedics, transplant, robotics and general surgery
• Float to other units within the OSU organization as staffing needs require, maintaining flexibility and teamwork
• Participate in perioperative planning, patient handoffs, and post-op coordination to optimize outcomes

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) RN experience
• Experience in a Level 1 trauma center preferred
• EPIC experience required for charting and documentation
• BCLS certification required
• Comfortable circulating in Orthopedic, Neurosurgery/Spine and General Surgery cases
• Willingness to float within the OSU system and cover required call and weekend shifts

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong circulating skills in the OR and familiarity with sterile technique and intraoperative processes
• Experience with a broad surgical case mix: general, robotic, laparoscopic, trauma, ortho, neuro, transplant and more
• Comfort with robotic and laparoscopic-assisted procedures and specialized instrumentation
• Ability to manage fast-paced trauma cases and prioritize patient safety under pressure
• Proficient in EPIC charting and electronic health record workflows
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills in the perioperative setting
