Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and support to residents, helping them maintain dignity and independence
- Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting) with patience and respect
- Monitor residents’ condition and report changes to the nursing team promptly
- Accurately document care, vitals, and observations in resident records
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver person-centered care
- Create a warm, safe environment that promotes wellbeing and comfort for residents
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent credential
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Comfortable working with elderly populations and assisting with ADLs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage residents and family members
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow facility policies and procedures
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain (if required by facility)
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of geriatric care principles and resident dignity
- Ability to safely assist with transfers and mobility support
- Basic knowledge of infection control and safety protocols
- Good observation skills for changes in resident condition
- Competent documentation and time-management abilities
- Team-oriented mindset and a caring bedside manner
