Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled physical therapy interventions and assist patients with therapeutic exercises
• Implement and follow treatment plans developed by the supervising physical therapist
• Document patient progress, treatments, and outcomes clearly and timely
• Assist patients with mobility, transfers, gait training, and use of assistive devices
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility strategies
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain a safe, clean treatment environment and adhere to infection control protocols

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Valid PTA licensure in California or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Clinical experience in post-acute, rehab, or similar settings preferred
• Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
• Ability to safely assist and lift patients according to facility policies

Education

• Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Therapeutic exercise prescription and implementation
• Gait training, transfers, and use of assistive devices
• Patient assessment, progress documentation, and outcome tracking
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and standard clinical documentation
• Effective patient and family education techniques
• Time management, prioritization, and interdisciplinary collaboration
