Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to patients: assistance with ADLs, bathing, dressing and mobility
• Take and record vital signs accurately; report clinical changes to the nursing team
• Support EKG testing and basic cardiac monitoring as needed per facility protocols
• Assist with safe patient transfers and fall prevention strategies
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and communicate clearly with RN staff
• Follow infection control and safety procedures, including PPE and screening requirements
• Participate in shift handoffs and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members for excellent patient care

Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) — active state certification required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) listed as required
• Completion of VHC EKG Exam and License/Certificate Verification as part of onboarding
• Up-to-date immunizations and required health screenings (COVID-19 vaccine, TB testing, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, influenza, drug screen, fit test)
• Reliable, patient-focused, with strong communication and teamwork skills
• Prior experience in med-surg or acute care settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential from an approved program; current state certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable with bedside patient care and personal care routines
• Ability to obtain and record vital signs and basic clinical measurements
• Familiarity with basic EKG procedures and telemetry support
• Understanding of infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE use
• Strong documentation habits and ability to follow care plans
• Good situational awareness, safety-first mindset, and teamwork orientation
• Basic familiarity with electronic health records and charting preferred
