Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts including weekends; Day shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (typically 3x12), Night shifts: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (typically 3x12), rotating day/night schedule with required weekend coverage
Hours per Week: 60
Candidate Pay Rate: $68 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide advanced cardiac telemetry monitoring and promptly interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely interventions
- Deliver high-quality post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath, and pre/post cardiac surgery care in the stepdown/PCU/TCU setting
- Administer blood products and manage central/PICC/peripheral lines with strict adherence to protocols
- Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) and follow heparin protocols safely
- Respond as an active member of Rapid Response and Code teams during emergencies
- Perform respiratory support tasks including BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow oxygen, tracheostomy and chest tube care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV teams, RT, PT, social work, etc.) to optimize patient outcomes
- Float and orient to other UCSF facilities as needed while maintaining clinical excellence
Qualifications
- Active California RN license required
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS required
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac stepdown/TCU/PCU experience — HARD STOP: must be cardiac stepdown experience
- Travel nursing experience required
- Willingness and ability to float to other UCSF Medical Center locations
- Preferred: CCRN certification and transplant experience
- Preferred skills: IV therapy and phlebotomy
- COVID-19 vaccine plus booster required per facility guideline (medical/religious exemptions only)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry and continuous cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia interpretation
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response protocols
- Central line and PICC line care and blood product administration
- Heparin protocols and management of cardiac drips (no titration)
- Experience with external pacemakers, LVAD work ups, and TAVR care pathways
- Respiratory management: high-flow oxygen, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy and chest tube care
- Familiarity with post-MI and advanced cardiac post-op patient needs
- Strong clinical judgment, rapid response participation, and clear patient/family communication
