Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adults and geriatrics on a MedSurg Oncology unit
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to telemetry alerts to keep patients safe
• Administer and manage IV therapy, blood products, and central/PICC/arterial line care with strict adherence to protocols
• Support chemotherapy-related care and symptom management in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal and manage high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and dysrhythmias to guide timely clinical interventions
• Maintain impeccable documentation in Epic and communicate changes in patient status to the team
• Follow and promote infection prevention and patient falls prevention best practices every shift
• Float to equivalent MedSurg/Oncology units as needed while maintaining safe patient ratios

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of Ohio (or compact license where applicable)
• Minimum 2 years RN experience required; must meet experience requirements within the 3 most recent years
• At least 1 year of current specialty experience required for a clinical pass (oncology experience preferred but not required)
• Epic charting experience required
• BCLS (BLS) certification required
• Comfortable with a 1:4 patient ratio and floating to units of equal or lower acuity
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• IV start, IV therapy, phlebotomy, and Alaris infusion pump proficiency
• Central line, PICC line and arterial line management
• Blood product administration
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP management
• Tracheostomy care and chest tube assistance
• ABG interpretation
• Familiarity with bladder scanner and GE B450 telemetry monitors
• Infection prevention practices and patient falls prevention strategies
