Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients across medical-surgical, telemetry, ICU overflow and ED settings to ensure safe, timely care
- Provide skilled bedside nursing during 12-hour night shifts with strong clinical judgment and attention to detail
- Float seamlessly between two med-surg/telemetry units and support ICU and ED overflow as needed
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in EPIC to support continuity and handoffs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and escalate concerns appropriately
- Educate patients and families about care plans, discharge instructions, and follow-up resources
- Maintain safe practice standards, infection control, and unit-specific protocols during night operations
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the U.S.; state licensure required prior to start
- Experience working nights and comfortable with 12-hour shift schedules
- Clinical experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing; ability to manage acuity and MS overflow into ICU/ED
- EPIC experience is required — confident documentation and charting in EPIC
- Comfort floating between units and adapting quickly to changing patient needs
- BLS required; ACLS and other certifications preferred (if available)
Education
- Completion of an accredited nursing program (ADN/BSN) and active RN licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical-surgical and telemetry nursing principles
- Familiarity with ICU and emergency department workflows and acuity escalation
- Proficiency with EPIC for documentation, orders, and communication
- Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills during night shifts
- Effective communication and teamwork across interdisciplinary staff
- Ability to manage multiple patients and rapid changes in patient condition
