Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating day/night 12-hour shifts (3x12 per week). Day: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM; Night: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM. Rotation every 4 weeks with every-other-weekend coverage and on-call requirement
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver expert neurocritical care to adult patients, managing complex post-neurosurgery and stroke cases
- Monitor and manage intracranial pressure devices and external ventricular drains with precision
- Operate and titrate ventilators and respiratory supports including HFNC and BiPAP/CPAP
- Start and manage IVs, central lines, PICCs, and arterial lines while administering blood products as needed
- Interpret cardiac rhythms, obtain 12-lead ECGs, and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips during emergencies
- Document care accurately in Epic and communicate clearly with interdisciplinary teams
- Provide compassionate education and support to patients and families during critical moments
- Float to equivalent or lower acuity units as needed and respond to on-call assignments
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience (strong neuro critical care background preferred)
- Current BCLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS (AHA) certification required
- Demonstrated experience with ventilator management, IV start, telemetry, and intracranial pressure monitoring
- EHR experience with Epic required
- Travel experience required (screening for first-time travelers applies)
- Comfort working in a Level I trauma/teaching hospital environment and floating across units
Knowledge & Skills
- Neuro ICU and critical care nursing best practices
- Ventilator management and mechanical ventilation care
- External ventricular drain (EVD) and ICP monitoring
- Stroke/CVA assessment and NIHSS competency
- Arterial line, central line, and PICC management
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), BiPAP/CPAP support, and airway suctioning
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and ECGs
- IV therapy, blood product administration, and phlebotomy fundamentals
- Infection prevention, isolation precautions, and PPE use
- Effective Epic documentation and interdisciplinary communication
