Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and treatments to patients across the respiratory and rehab area
• Perform ventilator management, oxygen therapy, airway clearance and other evidence-based respiratory interventions
• Assess patients’ respiratory status, interpret ABGs and adjust treatment plans in collaboration with the care team
• Monitor patient progress, document care thoroughly in the medical record, and communicate changes to providers
• Educate patients and families on respiratory disease management, inhaler use, and discharge plans to support lasting outcomes
• Participate in unit-based quality initiatives and safety protocols to improve patient care and workflows
• Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians and rehab staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care

Qualifications

• Licensed Respiratory Therapist (or eligible) — ability to obtain Rhode Island state licensure required
• CRT or RRT credential preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS or PALS a plus depending on unit needs
• Demonstrated experience in respiratory care, ventilator management, and pulmonary therapies preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, compassionate bedside manner, and excellent communication skills

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy (or equivalent) required; Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or related field a plus
• Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ventilator management and non-invasive ventilation
• Proficient with arterial blood gas interpretation and respiratory assessment
• Knowledge of oxygen delivery devices, aerosol therapy, suctioning and airway management
• Comfortable documenting in electronic health records and following clinical protocols
• Team-oriented approach with strong problem-solving and time-management skills
