Candidate Pay Rate: $70 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients using the nursing process and create clear, patient-centered care plans
- Provide expert psychiatric nursing care across the lifespan from infants to elders
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Interpret diagnostic tests and basic EKGs to inform clinical decisions
- Coordinate care and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for the best outcomes
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers to support recovery and continuity of care
- Supervise Psychiatric Technicians and act as a clinical resource on shift
- Document care thoroughly and follow established guidelines and policies
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the State of Alaska
- Completion of a nursing program from an NLN-approved institution
- Current BLS certification
- Preferred: 1 year of nursing experience in a healthcare setting
- Ability to pass and maintain required competencies for the role
- Comfort supervising Psychiatric Technicians and leading on-shift care
Education
- Completion of a nursing program from an NLN-approved institution (RN education)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong grasp of the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation
- Medication administration and safe medication practices
- Basic EKG interpretation and interpretation of other diagnostic tests
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Familiarity with medical and office equipment (computer, telephone, fax, copy, EKG)
- Cultural competency and ability to deliver age-specific care
- Care management, continuity of care, and nursing documentation
- Ability to work independently within scope and collaborate across disciplines
