Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate ICU nursing care to critically ill patients
- Continuously monitor and interpret hemodynamic and ventilator data to guide care
- Administer medications and therapies safely and accurately, following protocols
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and adjust patient care plans
- Perform and document patient assessments, EKGs, and skilled nursing interventions
- Respond quickly to emergencies and use ACLS/BLS skills when required
- Float to Med-Surg units as needed, delivering consistent, safe care across settings
- Complete required unit testing and credential checks, including VHC EKG exam
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license (state licensure verification required)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience (night shift experience preferred)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Successful completion of VHC EKG exam and license/certificate verification
- Up-to-date immunizations and health requirements (COVID-19, TB testing, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, influenza as listed)
- Ability to float to Med-Surg when patient volume or unit needs require it
- Comfortable working independently on night shifts with strong critical thinking skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong ICU clinical assessment and monitoring skills
- Experience with ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
- Proficiency with EKG interpretation and basic dysrhythmia recognition
- Medication administration accuracy and familiarity with critical care meds
- Effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Adaptability to float between ICU and Med-Surg while maintaining quality care
- Competence with electronic health records and documentation best practices
