Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inpatient psychiatric assessments to determine diagnosis and level of care
• Manage medication regimens and adjust treatments based on clinical response
• Perform crisis evaluation and stabilization, coordinating transfers when higher-level care is needed
• Collaborate with nurses, social workers, therapists, and hospital leadership to create safe, effective treatment plans
• Document encounters accurately and efficiently in EPIC to support continuity of care
• Participate in unit safety protocols and attend codes as needed to support a secure environment
• Provide clear communication with patients and families about diagnosis, treatment, and disposition

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency
• Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry preferred
• Active NY medical license or ability to obtain NY licensure in a timely manner
• Valid DEA registration (or ability to obtain)
• Demonstrated experience in adult inpatient psychiatry, including medication management and crisis evaluation
• Comfortable with EPIC or similar electronic medical record systems
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care
• Locum/contract experience and ability to start as soon as credentialed

Education

• MD or DO in Psychiatry (residency completed)

Knowledge & Skills

• Inpatient psychiatric assessment and formulation
• Medication management for acute psychiatric conditions
• Crisis evaluation and de-escalation techniques
• Familiarity with EPIC charting workflows
• Understanding of inpatient safety and security protocols
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based behavioral health setting
• Clear, compassionate patient and family communication
