Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients thoroughly in the ambulatory OB/GYN setting and prioritize care needs
- Obtain and document vital signs, EKGs, and relevant screening data with attention to detail
- Perform medication reconciliation and manage pharmacy refill requests to keep care safe
- Provide telephone triage with clear clinical judgment and compassionate communication
- Prepare and maintain accurate charts in Epic and ensure chart preparation is visit-ready
- Perform pelvic exams and assist in women’s health procedures as appropriate
- Coordinate referrals and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to streamline care
- Support high-risk OB workflows and escalate concerns to providers promptly
- Maintain infection control practices including mask fit testing and vaccine compliance
- Float to other UCSF units as needed, bringing clinical flexibility and a can-do attitude
Qualifications
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) required
- California RN license required
- AHA BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in a fast-paced OBGYN ambulatory clinic
- Comfortable using Epic or similar charting systems (preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for patient education and team collaboration
- Willingness and ability to float to other UCSF units and facilities as needed
- Facility vaccine policy: COVID-19 vaccine plus booster required unless medical or religious exemption applies
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and focused history-taking in women’s health
- Obtain vital signs, pulse oximetry, height/weight measurements
- Medication reconciliation and interpretation of lab results
- 12-lead ECG acquisition and basic interpretation
- Pelvic exam technique and management of common OB/GYN presentations
- Telephone triage and clinical prioritization
- Charting, chart preparation and documentation best practices (Epic preferred)
- Coordinating referrals and managing pharmacy refill requests
- Mask fit testing and adherence to infection control guidelines
- Familiarity with high-risk OB considerations and ambulatory clinic workflows
