Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality diagnostic mammography and CT examinations for patients across the lifespan
- Execute breast procedures including breast needle localization, specimen radiography, stereotactic breast biopsy and diagnostic/screening mammography
- Operate CT equipment, set up and run automatic injectors, and manage age-appropriate contrast protocols
- Maintain and participate in daily/weekly quality control and departmental quality assurance programs
- Ensure radiation protection and patient safety during all procedures
- Assist with interventional/sterile procedures and support referring physicians during exams
- Maintain accurate patient records, imaging documentation, and tele-radiology transmissions
- Participate in continuing education and maintain required mammography volumes and CEUs
Qualifications
- Current ARRT (Radiography) certification required
- BLS (American Heart Association) required within 45 days of start
- Clinical Competency Assessment required within 3 months of hire and every three years
- Able to perform diagnostic exams relevant to assigned modalities (mammography and CT required)
- Comfortable performing venipuncture and contrast administration; familiar with contraindications
- Willingness to rotate shifts, take call, and travel to multiple SEARHC sites as needed
- Active pursuit and documentation of required ACR/FDA Mammography CEUs (5 CEUs/year) and performing required mammogram volumes
Education
- Current ARRT in Radiography (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Mammography: screening, diagnostic, specimen radiography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast needle localization
- CT: protocol adjustments, contrast administration, automatic injector operation, interventional assistance
- Radiation protection and quality assurance practices, including daily and weekly QC
- Patient care across all age groups and cultural backgrounds with strong communication skills
- Tele-radiology transmission and basic equipment care/maintenance
- Sterile technique and support for invasive procedures
- Multi-modality aptitude: willingness to learn/use Ultrasound, MRI and other imaging modalities
